If all that were needed was a 100 mic, I'd gladly pay for it myself, but 
unfortunately that _isn't_ all that's needed: it's a whole shedload of work. 
I don't want to put a dampener on this nice idea but... here goes :)

There's plenty of Linux podcasts out there and the authors put masses of hours 
into them for no reward; many fold after one or two episodes. It's hard 
enough to scrape together volunteers to give talks without laying on the 
extra pressure that a load of people will be downloading it later. Organising 
talks already takes enough time and effort to put most people off, and 
besides, we don't need any more reasons for people not to turn up to the 
meetings :)
