[Nottingham] Rt2500 wireless card, ubuntu dapper, WPA

Long shot, but here goes...

Has anyone had any luck setting up a rt2500-chipset wireless card, or
any kind of wi-fi device, with a router set up to use WPA? I'm using WEP
atm, which is a pain as I have had to use a non-ASCII key (configuration
utilities will not take an equivalent ASCII passphrase) as well as
revert to a non-secure encryption standard - although I have enabled MAC
address restrictions.

Any ideas? Am using Ubuntu Dapper and recently updated rt2500 drivers.
Any help will be appreciated.
