I would agree that it's important to transfer the notes elsewhere after
they've been keyed down, for editing and to retain a separate copy. But
if you can take notes as easily with a mini-laptop as a conventional paper
pad, it's a very convenient way to do it.

Making notes of diagrams is probably less practical.
