[Nottingham] photo slide scanner

Hi all,

I have recently unearthed a couple of boxes full of slides taken over many 
years. They hold special interest to me (family holidays, Baha'i gatherings, 
landscapes and ones taken through our telescope - planets and such).

The cost of getting them all (1400+) copied professionally will be 
prohibitive.

I have seen advertised slide copying devices to plug in USB port of a PC. Has 
anyone any experience of using one with Linux?
