I fear that the Synaptic devs may beg to differ with you when you say that
Synaptic is in no way related to apt-get command.

The first lines on the Synaptic site are

Synaptic is a graphical package management program for apt. It provides the
> same features as the apt-get command line utility with a GUI front-end based
> on Gtk+.


So yes, definitely worth submitting the bug report.
