[Nottingham] Ubuntu not booting.

Hi everyone,

I have just recently tried to install Ubuntu on my desktop I have tried both
10.04 and 9.04 but they both will not boot past a screen with a flashing
cursor after what is supposedly a sucsseful install. My desktop specs are
thus intel quad core, 4Gb memory, 250Gb HDD(which I install Ubuntu on) and a
seperate 500Gb HDD for documents. I'm about to go off and try installing it
with just 2Gb of memory in to see if that fixes the problem but if it does
not is there anything else I need to think about doing?
