Sounds like a basic attack site.  Something has simply altered your Firefox’s home page.  In which case, just set it back.  It was probably a malicious script on an infected site.  Where have you been going on the intertubes?  J

 

If you don’t already have it, add the “NoScript” add-on and then only enable domains you trust.  “Ad-Block Plus” helps too.  (I also run “Flashblock”, “Better Privacy”, “Cookie Culler” and “Ghostery”).  A bit over-kill.

 

The odds of your Linux box being infected by a “.exe” are basically zero.

 

I am sure someone with a bit more knowledge will be along shortly.
