I can think of a few things
1) You click on a destination and it can offer to call it or add it as a
new contact
2) It could show you a contact's location on the map (if you are trying
to get directions)
3) It can show you where your friends on G+ are
4) It can update your G+ status based on where you are and where you
want to go
5) It could update G+ based on your chose destination ("Off to the
clap-clinic...")
6) It can find other G+ people nearby so you can have a meat-space
meet-up (old skool)
7) It update the accuracy of your contacts based on G+
8) It can use your searches to better target adverts at you and your
contacts

Who are Google users? Companies.
What is Google's product? You.

Solution? Err...OpenStreetmap? But if you want some "normal"
functionality, it's going to need read access to some stuff (e.g. 1 and 2)
