[Nottingham] Android update kills USB internet tether?!

I'm running the stock 2.2 ROM on the HTC Desire HD on Orange.

I get USB Tethering, Internet Passthrough and Portable Wifi Hotspot.
This makes it seem as though it is operator-specific ROMs removing the
options from the UI.

I've used custom ROMs before on my previous Android phone (HTC Hero), and
also found that a good number of the ROMs out there are all based upon the
CM ones. I also wouldn't mind hearing more about the Android UG.
