[Nottingham] Light weight Linux

Hi All,

I was hoping to get your thoughts on the best Linux distribution for the
following:

I have an old laptop (Toshiba Satellite Pro 4300), from memory it is
about 600Mhz CPU, 328 Meg RAM 30 Gig HDD.

I am giving this to a friend even less computer literate than me, who is
only used to windows, but wanted something to access the internet when
away, so only a web browser really.

I have tried to put Ubuntu 12.04 on it, but both times it fails without
giving details!
