[Nottingham] signing a key

Sorry - I am being really thick here.

Once I get a signed key back from someone as an .asc - what do I do?
I assume I need to import the signed public part into GPA, which I have
done.
Do I also need to import it into OpenPGP?  When I tried that it refused
to update.

How can I check that is is correctly signed?  I can't see any options
for that in GPA or OpenPGP

I know I need to update the keyservers with my newly signed key, it's
the steps prior to that I am stuck on.

I thought I had understood how to do all this - clearly I was wrong.
