I am indeed but as I am not making much (read: any) use of the meta-data
at the moment, it's not a big deal to me.

Again, not a big deal; permissions are for the moment super-simple.  A
couple of quick chmods and all will be well.
That assumes I have even need 'em.  This really is just a temporary measure.

All my other drives have an activity light, not these two buggers.
