Cheers Aaron. Just had a quick scan of your blog before you replied - I
like your bio-data stuff (and also your Chang gifs :)).

Don't tempt me on the Emacs front! The complete system in a box approach
is appealing, I've been tempted to dive in a few times, with evil mode
in my case (struggle to tolerate the 'emacs pinky' bindings).

The Rpi wearable I mentioned will most likely use emacspeak, so I'll
have to get my head around it for that use case, but for email, not so
sure yet. Had looked into mu4e and it does seem to do a cracking job.
Anything fast, basically, and I figured mutt would be quickest to get
into (for a vimmer).

Current setup for 'incoming stuff': on a Pi, accessed via mosh and tmux
for a permanent session with newsbeuter for rss, finch for IM, irssi IRC
and now mutt for email (on local machine). Bringing all this together
into emacs is tempting, but the configs... oh the configs.

You'll tell me that's the joy of it though, right?
