I concur with Dennis, a Live USB may well be easier. Ubuntu (or a
derivative such as Mint) is probably going to be the easiest to install
and it should support UEFI.

Even so, seems that there may be fun-and-games due to hardware:

I would assume that after those fixed, "nikwen" had a fully working system.
