Hi Barry,

Yes, I was a bit sloppy. It is actually a DVD that I am using from Linux
Format magazine. I have tried both installing from the DVD and from a USB
stick containing the ISO image (copied from the DVD with 'dd' command on my
linux laptop)

I have now tried Mageia, openSUSE and Ubuntu and the result is the same
whether I have the computer set to UEFI or Legacy. I have even tried the
'install' option instead or running from the disk (brave or foolhardy - you
judge) with still the same result - blank screen and lots of activity from the
DVD or light on USB stick.

I have tried to get the install into 'text' mode to see what is happening, but
no luck yet.

Regards,
Godfrey
