If you're thinking of the example of the Raspberry Pi, then I consider
them a fantastic help. Especially so for the emphasis on education
promoted by the Raspberry Pi people.
Indeed, how on Earth have we allowed ourselves to be so stymied for so
long with the expense and restrictions of Microsoft and Apple for all
things home (and business) computing until just recently?!
