I second Paul's Thinkpad recommendation. Use eBay to find 'em (also look
for Dell XPS 13 Developer Edition, and Mac). Bear in mind the battery is
probably ruined.

There's also Entroware https://www.entroware.com/store/
A more modern unit, but might not be the same build quality as a
Thinkpad (that's nothing against Entroware, Thinkpads are tanks).

Tuxedo Computers http://www.tuxedocomputers.com/index.php
They sell similar models but are a German outfit, so warranty work may
be a concern

Ministry of Freedom https://minifree.org/
Not cheap mind you, but actual freedom.

The High Street is a Windows/Mac world, it'll be rare that you'll
stumble across anyone in a big-box store who even knows what GNU/Linux is.

eBay and maybe the likes of eBuyer are your options. You can of course
buy brand new from Lenovo or Dell, but that isn't exactly the budget option!

Also have a look on Gumtree and Freecycle, people sometimes want to get
rid of decent kit.
