[Nottingham] Installing Devuan

When installing Devuan from USB it detects the SSD and installs but throws
errors when installing GRUB2. The system is installed but unbootable.
Attempting to install GRUB later gives input output errors.

Install Ubuntu 17.04 to the same drive from CD works perfectly.

Installing Devuan to replace Ubuntu gives a bootable Devuan that just
starts to boot and then goes into a kernel panic with a message about
kernel offset and off course hangs with flashing lights on the keyboard.

Any ideas as to what is going wrong?
