Hi Martin,

Ran the script on a box I DON'T care about to see what happens it outputs
all the alsa settings into a text file. Still not sure I would run it on
the troublesome box as there is important stuff on there.
Having run the script I ran

~$ bash alsa-info.sh --stdout | grep Driver
Driver version: k3.16.0-6-amd64
~$ bash alsa-info.sh --stdout | grep Library
Library version:
~$ bash alsa-info.sh --stdout | grep Utilities
Utilities version: 1.0.28

The result of this isn't consistent with that particular website and sound
is working fine on this box.

As for being hot and sunny yes you are right but the defective box is
10,000 miles away where I can't get my hands on it. I hope it can be taken
to the Melbourne Linux
Users group on Saturday as I am pretty well out of ideas.

All the best
Stripes
