Basically I am not familiar with the 'new' UEFI startup system. and things like disable RST, change storage access to AHCI mean nothing to me. I did change setting from UEFI to legacy, but that did not solve problem. Just not sure what to do now. So much for my Christmas prezzie.

Loads ok if booted from memory USB stick, but not sure how to access the main memory /dev/sda (do we still call it disk drive when it is solid state and not a rotating disk?)Godfrey

Tried it out by booting from USB stick with Ubuntu 22 and looks great so I installed it - wiping out previous OS. Now when I start it up all I get is 'reboot system' or some such message flash on screen and then it goes blank and reboots - over and over until I power it off.I have tried looking for help online, but none of the four suggestions I have tried so far have worked.
