I've just set up this exact combination (SVN + trac) for a University
programming project (C, not PHP). I didn't find it trivial to get
working and had to read a lot of "Version Control with Subversion"
(http://svnbook.red-bean.com/) and the trac documentation to understand
it properly, but it was well worth the effort!
