Actually we've been touring the conferences with a SEO game. You have to
guess the relative popularity of different pairs of terms 15 times. We
find that "common sense" does little better than chance. This is even
with top SEO pros!

You need numbers. Either from the tools, Wordtracker, Adwords, Hitwise,
etc, or from your site logs or Adwords/Overture statistics.
