Interesting.
it seems fairly conclusive that somehow the router knows it's really me,
possibly by some http header info and decides on that basis to let me see
the login prompt to the cli and then the Linux area of the modem.
Thats not to say it can't somehow be spoofed perhaps.
The main reason for concern here was that it seemed that most people
wouldn't even have a clue that their modem was accessible via telnet, how to
alter the password, and that the password drops back to default if the modem
gets reset / set to default etc.
Back to the job at hand, getting the router to port forward to a wireless
print server using remote IPP....... roll on friday!
