I'm currently using the beta-release of Zend's new Eclipse-based
editor ("Neon"), and I'm pretty pleased with it. Before that I was
using PDT, upon which Neon is based, and was quite happy with the
level of support offered for PHP there. Are you using PDT or the
older, and much worse (imo, naturally) PHPEclipse?
The load-time for Eclipse itself isn't particularly fast, but I tend
to just leave it open all the time.
When I'm editing files that I don't want to setup a project for, I use
Scite or vim. This is all on Ubuntu.
