[Phpwm] [OT] Firefox and Thunderbird Plugins

Has anyone on the list written a Firefox or Thunderbird plugin? I'm
researching how to develop them today, I wrote a simple HelloWorld
plugin this morning, you mainly use a combination of JavaScript and
XML it seems quite straightforward. I now need some ideas for a more
complex plugin that I could write.

Does anyone know of a decent search plugin for Thunderbird? I find the
built in search fairly poor especially when compared to gmail.
