Using the vesa driver for X should help as this driver works with most
cards. You can
possibly select this using yast. If not, backup your X config file
(/etc/X11/xorg.conf)
then edit line (nvidia in my case):
Driver "nvidia"
to read:
Driver "vesa"
I think Ubuntu 7.10 has something to do this all automatically, should X fail.
