I've done abit of checking as to why the git plugin lacked branch
support. Seems to be more of a trac version issue as the demo site
above was using 0.10.

I've done a quick setup of the jquery source in a newer version of trac (0.11):

http://onaserver.org/git/browser

and the branches and tags appear, no problem.
