[Preston] Generating a programme for Linux from a .C for Dos

Hello group;

Possibly a simple question here.

An old GPS package I have has the source code for a C compiler.  Based 
for a Dos Machine.  What are the chances of compiling it on a Linux 
machine for it to actually run.

Also what simple C compilers would you recommend.  It has been a very 
long tie since I last had to do this.  I have the CD's from recent Linux 
Format Mags are any of the packages on the disks any use.
