Hi all.
I have RedHat 7.3, Mandrake 9.0 and Knoppix. If anyone wants a copy, let me
know. Redhat is 3 74 disks. Mandrake is two 80's and a 74, and Knoppix is
one 80.
If you haven't come across knoppix, it is a great way to try out Linux on a
machine without changing anything. It boots from the CD, and all you need to
do in most cases is type "knoppix" for it to boot. You can pass parameters
too, which the help screen gives you, to avoid that nasty PCMCIA devices
you've got, for example. You can even specify that it doesn't use the
existing windows swap space on FAT drives!
It boots into KDE, running Wine and it automounts your windows drives, so
you have access to all your files and programs. It is a really good way to
get newbies interested, without the perils of an install. It is also nice to
have WINE work. Now I believe the claims I read about it! It also has
Koffice, and lots of fun stuff, all on one CD. And you can install it if you
want.
If anyone wants copies, let me know. I will do them for branded jewel case
CDs in return, of the right size.
