I am back on the Windows box at the moment because I am unable to use the
Linux box to connect via the external dial up modem after Wednesday.

The modem has been checked for operation via this box and all seems OK.

>From the Linux box the modem TX data light will come on but will not go to
on-hook pick up the line or dial.

I have removed the Proxy settings from Mozilla etc and checked what I can
tell from network settings and there does not seem to be anything amiss.

Can anyone suggest anything?
