If I can just stick my oar in:

Just because the code has been altered arbitarily to make it compile without 
error doesn't mean it's going to function properly!
Compressed files are more suseptable to being 'damaged in transit'. I have 
had bitter experience of this.

My advice:
Try downloading again.

Apparently MD5 checksums give an indication that what you have downloaded is 
the same as the original, although I have never really looked into how to use 
them.
