No problem. I had pretty much given up hope of a Preston contact but hey,
this is a nice surprise, right?

I'm already in Horwich now but tomorrow is rather short notice so I really
doubt I'll be able to attend the October bash. November is certainly more
on the cards provided I can get back here with public transport - unless
there are any PLUG members from Horwich or nearby (Blackrod?) with an empty
seat in their car, hint hint nudge nudge...

Well I can certainly put together presentations on using iptables as a
firewall and/or running a mail server with sendmail combined with BIND as a
local DNSBL. Anti-spam measures are kind of my speciality and I used to be
a volunteer admin for a well-known but somewhat controversial DNSBL
(no, not SPEWS). There are probably a couple more topics too that don't
spring to mind at this very point in time. If I can contribute in any way
then that'd be great.

One area where I'd be interested in receiving information is setting up a
WiFi NIC on my laptop. Don't yet have the NIC in question but should do by
the end of the week. This said, the guy who's sending it to me has also
pointed me to a forum posting where getting it up and running with WPA is
described. So, we'll see if I manage it or not.

Anyway, I've been here for most of the past fortnight and am enjoying life
back in the UK after over half my life in France. Hopefully the Linux scene
over here will be a little more, erm, "active" than over there.

Best regards,
