[Rnb] help with installing linux and/or Xbox Media Center on to XBOX

I have brought an xbox from cash converters , hoping to make it into a
Network-attached storage , to store my music n movies on and also
access them from my tv & computer. Hopefully more features will be
added to the machine but keeping it simple to start with.

I have been looking at the instruction about the software hack to get
over the protection. The question i come to at last , is that I need a
xbox to usb lead , Just wanting to know is the best place from ebay
such as this seller.

i know custom leads are expensive(not brought any for ages , remember
how expensive my atari scsii lead was back in the 1990s :D)

Should I be looking at modding the xbox with a modchip or software
hack? The advantage I see is that the software seems simple enough of
installing hack file on to usb pen and reading  it into the xbox etc.
With modchips is it just pulling old one out and install new one into
the socket?
