I bought my modchip online, and it was a solderless variety.
Installation requires pulling the xbox apart, some patience, good
eyesight and the ability to screw/position the modchip in the correct
place on the motherboard.
If you buy a modchip, you need to find out what version xbox you have,
as this will affect the modchip(s) available to you.
I think I followed something similar to :

and I bought a Xenium gold 24k... in some sort of solderless package.
