Firstly, nice to meet you all at the last meeting, quite a pleasant evening. Sorry about the delay but the PSU unit went on the computer that I was using for linux. Have been asset stripping the parts from both computers to create one slightly improved unit.
In addition I bought 2 caddy trays one for Linux and one for XP so that I can use whichever.
So the next meeting, before setting a date I think we should ask ourselves "how often do we want to meet? Weekly, fortnightly, monthly or quarterly."
The benefits of say a fortnightly meeting is that members tend to remember that the event is on.
The downside is that it will require a program of events, which will take some organizing and after a while this become difficult to manage.
The other issue is do we want to run a proper club, with chairman, treasurer etc.
My own view is to stay away from those commitments.
Another issue is how big do we want this group to become. Our last meeting was quite sociable, do we want a club with say 50 members.
Another beef that I have is that some clubs develop into a situation whereby a handful of people do all the work while the other 45 turn up to be entertained, a cheap night out. You only get out what you put in. Do we want the group to develop in this way?
So for my part I don't mind doing my bit and within my limited knowledge helping out but I'm not prepared to run the whole show. Like David I don't have the time.
Any way, what do you all think?
Regards Roger
