Hi Ash,

That was indeed your public key block. A slightly unorthodox method of
distributing it, but it worked nonetheless. I've been able to import
this to my key ring OK.

A more common method is to export your key in an ascii armoured block to
a file like so:

$ gpg --export --armor 8DFBEF31 > ash.asc

and send ash.asc as an attachment to a signed e-mail. Or you could, and
this is what I do, send your key to a keyserver like so:

$ gpg --keyserver hkp://subkeys.pgp.net --send-keys 8DFBEF31

Then you can give people your gpg fingerprint, which is.

Key fingerprint = 2E36 7B47 717F 2302 CC27  38F5 8DA7 3B38 8DFB EF31

from this they can get your key from a keyserver. You can also search
for a key using a name or the key ID, but it's best to use the
fingerprint.

Would you like to try sending me signed mail directly before signing
your mail to the list. Just until you feel confident of what
you're doing? After signing we can move on to encrypting your mail.

Whatever you do, please do NOT import and sign any keys until we have
been through the keysigning process.

We'll see how this goes. I see you're a kmail user. Unfortunately I'm
not familiar with how kmail uses GPG, but Paul T is so he might be able
to help if you have problems signing your mail.

Toodle pip,

Al
