You know I did have a look before I posted on here ... I found a Garmin 
review page but as a complete beginner the terminology was just plain 
confusing.

Cheers Al. I think that I may put a wanted post on freecycle and see if 
anyone has anything gathering dust in a drawer first... though I guess 
finding something through that route which is compatible with Linux may 
be fun?
