You are correct, and the earlier versions of ftape used to have a
supplementary module called colorado.o or something and a parameter that was
passed to the ftape.o module redirected it to the colorado.o.

However, from ftape version 3 or 4, the colorado.o module was built in to
the ftape.o module.

Confused..... you will be.

I'm not an expert here, but I've read that Parallel Port Tape Drives
commonly work off the Floppy Controller if you don't install a Card for
them. Maybe this is what the name "ftape" refers to. If this is so, the
software is accessing the device it was designed for, but the signals aren't
getting passed on to the Colorado Trakker.
