[SC.LUG] Hello! Latest Mandrake offering

Hi folks,

Apologies for doing loads of lurking and generally hiding from view
recently - as usual, the work/life balance (as it's apparently known)
is anything but balanced at the moment!

Just got my copy of PC Pro this weekend and noticed Mandrake 9 (3 CD
issue) is included.  Has anyone tried it, and how does it compare
(given that Mandrake seem to do things either very well, or highly
rushed and not-so good). Mandrake seem to have this ability to hit the
bull or miss the room holding the dart board entirely with little in
between.

Normally I'm a debian user, but as I've recently changed my machine to
a shiny new one (two actually, I can't buy computers in single units,
but that's another story - the XPC Shuttle machines really can't be
ignored!) and have been seriously busy, I've not had anything other
than knoppix running (which is quite good once you read the
documentation and discover you have to use sudo to set things up!).

Just bought a new stock of blank CDs so I'm ready to go burn some dist
discs ;-)
