Oh right, so i can stick a raid card in when running Linux, only I wont
do that as it defeats the whole object of buying this machine (what ever
that may be) as its performance will suck when sat next to an x86
machine costing half the price with the same raid card in. (not the
performance of the raid card, the performance of whatever your doing
*with* the raid card)
I wasn't referring to the xscale as a DSP, but to PCIX DSP cards.
Aside from those and raid there isn't much around that uses a 64bit
slot.

I think your definition of fast is similar to the definition of "Minimum
requirement" as printed on PC Game boxes.

You mean your actually prepared to pay for best 'designed' product you
can find at the expense everything?
I was a big Amiga fan, there is no hope in hell of my purchasing an
AmigaOne for anything other than self indulgent amusement.

Oh sorry, embedded devices / appliances!

And I suppose you can get manufacturer supported drivers for other
cards?
As for the card being silent, big deal. There is a bottom end version of
almost every card in nvidia's line up that only uses a passive heatsink.
Usually sold only to OEM manufacturers who like to be able to flaunt the
nvidia brand in their marketing with out having to provide a high
performance card.
They would have done better sticking a matrox card in.

I am sure it makes putting up with the high price and low performance
worthwhile.

Like I said, design decision fobbed off as a feature.
