Yes, you should be able to do this.  Parted dynamically moves space
into the extended partition as needed.

It should not say auto; if it's a wheelmouse or 3-button mouse,
use ImPS/2, if not use PS/2.  For USB mice, the device must normally
be "/dev/input/mice".

Ouch!  I forgot about this; Debian wants you to put only the users
whom you want to be able to use sound into the audio group.  I usually
change everything in /dev that's sound-related to 0666 at install time.
