Ive got the car back on the road again so Im looking for a meetup

yeah but old laptops are generally flakey and even new ones underperform 
desktops unless you pay megabucks...

besides a well made desktop and an LCD ought to suspend about as well as 
  a laptop and probably doesnt use a whole lot more power when running...

Yup. one of the reasons I keep my 20 year old Charade on the road.

Just replaced the turbo with an ebay job and its running great again - 
63.4 MPG on cruise. bit smoky though - need to get the injectors done :)
