Wow, interesting, our experiences are quite different! I've *only* ever
had crashes while composing mail. Currently using with opensuse 10.2.

I've never had the Calendar or Tasks crash, strange. In mine (2.8.2)
you can customise alarms in detail, choosing how far in advance the
alarm should go off, and whether it should be a pop up, play a sound, or
run a program of your choosing. I find all these options by clicking on
the "Alarms" button in an appointment window, and choosing "Customise"
in the drop down menu.

Yes true, but I know people using more lightweight email clients such as
Sylpheed and even ncurses based clients who consider Evolution almost
bloatware. Myself I don't mind if the machine you're running is
powerful enough. On a less powerful machine I might choose another
client. Also I've run Evolution from another window manager and
precisely because it loads Gnome libraries in such an environment is why
some people might consider it bloated. It's also the only mail client I
know which starts a couple of daemons in the background which stay there
after exit, presumably for Calendering, etc. But then again it's very
well featured and that does come at a price of lots of code :)

Yes me too :)
