Thanks again for all suggestions. I take the point about exporting to
pdf, but it would be more satisfying to discover the cause of this bug
to prevent future headaches.
It doesn't appear to be a font problem because I produced the
presentation in the Arial font, which is what Impress seems to default
to. I saved it as a .ppt file from the start and have no problems
re-opening the presentation in Impress. Impress is set to 'screen', so
is it possible that the lower few lines were missing because the
powerpoint user had the page setting on something else?
