Hi all
I have just set up a server using Suse 9.0 ftp install. The machine has dual
200gig ide hard drives and I have set up raid 1 mirrors for the /home /opt
and / partitions. When I was setting things up, suses partion tool would not
let me create /boot as a raid group (although mandrake does let you do this).
Subsequently I have a 235mb boot partition on /dev/hda1 and an empty partion
of the same exact size on /dev/hdb1. This is not too much f a problem as I
dont expect /boot to change very often - so I want to just clone the hd1
partition onto hdb1 including the mbr so that if hda1 does a nose dive, I can
still boot and use the machine from hdb1. Is dd able to do this? What is the
proper way to use dd to ensure that the mbr gets copied over properly?
Many thanks
