[sclug] Evolution version 2 adverse comments?

I am looking around for a mail client to suit our small scale use, and
Evolution started to look good (am using Suse).
 
However, the newly released version 2 has attracted a number of strong
adverse comments about loss of functionality in the new version -
apparently by design. 

I would be grateful to hear comments about mail clients that you might
recommend, and particularly about Evolution (latest version maybe?) if
you know about it?
