Well, thank you very much for your attention.

After going through all of your responses. It's highly required to
divulge more details.

I am using Redhat Linux Enterprise  ES 3.0.It's being used as (still
trying) qmail based mail server.

Here is output (error) when I tried to create user with "." 

#useradd navneet.kc
useradd: invalid user name 'navneet.kc'
