Make sure you're running the latest firmware (07.40.1.2; dial *#0000# to
find out). If not, locate your Product Code under the battery, and if it
doesn't read 0533332, follow the instructions at
<http://allaboutsymbian.com/archive/t-64399.html>; you'll lose the ability
to navigate using Nokia Maps, but you'll gain the A bit of AGPS, which
allows it to acquire its position within ten seconds on a good day. The
latest release also seems more stable.
Putty, of course. The version at <http://www.modeemi.fi/~pekangas/putty/>
works for me.
<http://www.drjukka.com/YBrowser.html> is much better than the internal
one, as it allows you to see all the hidden stuff.
And, of course, Google Maps: <http://www.google.com/gmm>. Better than
Nokia Maps for most things, but has its irritating quirks too, and needs a
constant net connection.
Enjoy.
