In Ye Olde Days of primitive sound architectures one could capture the
audio output of an application with vsound. However on a system with
ALSA it doesn't seem to work. Anyone know if it's possible anyhow?
Specifically to capture output of browser-hosted flash-based streaming
audio players.
(Functional requirement: to grab persistent copies of programmes made
available only for limited time and on a clunky proprietary player by a
certain large broadcasting corporation. Said corp's streaming audio
formats are a moving target to capture directly, but in a FLOSS
environment it should always be possible to grab the output of the
player, however obfuscated its inner workings.)
