Does anyone know how to change window manager on Gnome? I want to use
XFWM4 instead of Metacity (because of multiscreen bugs in Metacity).
I've been scouring the intertubes and asking on forums etc and *nobody
seems to know*.
Gnome 2 doesn't use session files any more. The gconf key that used to
specify the window manager doesn't work. Setting the WINDOW_MANAGER
environment variable doesn't work.
The closest thing I've seen to a solution is to use a Gnome startup item
to run 'xfwm4 --replace', which will shut down Metacity and start XFWM4
in its place; but that's evil.
There must be a simple solution to this! Does anyone know what it is?
